A cabin for our family and friends
This cozy cabin was built by Joseph Cooper in 1938. We've been conducting a thorough restoration, finding time where we can.
It is nestled at the north base of the Indian Mound along Everest Beach, a private campground in Milton, Vermont.
This place made us realize how much we enjoy spending time along the lake, and inspired us to move to the islands. We enjoy hosting our family and friends here for when they visit in the summer months.

A Family Tradition
Steven’s family has been spending summers here in cabins like these since the 1950’s. We are very fortunate to have acquired one for ourselves. There are a lot of memories made with siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces when growing up camping in a special place like this.
Family has an open invitation to stay and enjoy those memories again. It’s still a lot like you remember.

Familie ist immer willkommen
(Family is always welcome)

Need a little more sleeping space?
If you need more beds, we can additionally provide a renovated vintage camper on site with a king-size bed and a single overhead bunk to sleep up to 3 more. It has heat, a refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave. The optional awning provides a place out of the sun.
We have a long driveway and 110V service if you would like to bring your own RV.

Prettiest sunsets anywhere
You can travel the world over and still be hard-pressed to find any place with more beautiful sunsets. This beach was the favorite place of Steven's father to enjoy a sunset. There is usually a gathering of other sunset enthusiasts that meet on the beach each night for the spectacle. Anyone who has been here will agree, these are among the prettiest sunsets anywhere.

Lake and Mountain Views
Our place is located at the southern end of the Lake Champlain Insland Sea near the mouth of Trout Brook. Proximity to the Sandbar Wildlife Management Area assures viewing of many migratory waterfowl.
The screened porch has westerly views of the Sandbar State Park, the bridge to South Hero Island, Apple Island Marina, and the Adirondack Mountains beyond. The waves softly lap the stony shore. There is almost always a gentle breeze.

Your own spot on the beach
Our antique dock provides great seats for fishing or for watching the sunset. There is a ladder for swimming and lockable storage cubbies for your gear. We have a permanent mooring for larger boats and seaplanes. A skiff can be provided for shuttling.
If the launch area on Everest Beach is too shallow for your boat, try the public boat launch next to Apple Island Marina in South Hero, just across the water.

To cook or not to cook...
The kitchen is equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, toaster, rotisserie/convection oven, blender, coffee maker, cookware, and serving ware. There is also a propane grill for cooking out.
Locally, there are plenty of cuisine choices for the foodies, and for those that want a vacation from cooking. The link below is a partial list of our favorite eateries and points of interest within twenty minutes of the cabin.

Come camping by the lake!
Whether you want to celebrate a holiday, experience a fair or festival, or shop on Church Street Marketplace, you will always find interesting things to see or do. We are conveniently situated between the peaceful Champlain Islands and historic downtown Burlington. Art and music abound. A great drive-in movie theatre is not too far away.
We understand that sometimes the best time is relaxing and doing nothing at all too.

Explore Lake Champlain
Lighthouses, islands, a draw bridge, a historic fort, fun restaurants and lively tiki bars; there are a lot of things to see and do along the lake that are best experienced by boat. Sightseeing, fishing, or tubing, it is always fun to be on the water. Let's plan a cruise for when you're here!
There are also various small boats available for guests to use on their own.
