How to cook with honey When substituting honey for granulated sugar in recipes, you can estimate using ¾ cup of honey to replace 1 cup of sugar due to the sweeter, high fructose content of honey. Of course, this replacement formula will need to be adjusted for your particular recipe to get the best results. When baking with honey, remember to reduce ¼ cup of any other liquid for each cup of honey used; add ½ teaspoon of baking soda for each cup of honey used. Reduce oven temperature by 25ºF to prevent over-browning. Tip: When measuring honey, coat the measuring cup with non-stick cooking spray or vegetable oil before adding the honey and it will slide right out. |
